Cinderella Star Victoria Clark Looks Forward to Sharing Awards Season with Her Son

The morning the Tony nominations are announced, phones start buzzing with texts and calls for the happy few who get nods. “I had a day at the dentist. That’s right, [I celebrated my nomination] sitting in a dentist chair, because we have to do these things at some point, and I put it off for so long, this just happened to be the day. I slept in. I was up at Yale teaching a course yesterday, and I got up when my son left for school and then I just went back to bed! The Drama Desks didn’t go my way, so I thought, ‘Oh maybe the Tony’s won’t either. I’m not too worried about it.’ When I woke up I looked at my text messages and saw that I had four or five missed calls and I thought, ‘Well, not that many people call that early if it’s bad news…’ My son [Thomas Luke] is leaving for college in the fall, so I think he’s probably going to be my date—we haven’t discussed it yet. But being able to share that with him will be very special. He’s a little bit more aware of the work and discipline that goes into this now then he was before, so I’m looking forward to sharing that with him.”
